30 Ideas. The Ideas of Successful Job Search. (The New E-Book)
Well, as you may have heard, I finished the 2nd edit of the new e-book this week. And that puts us about 2 weeks away from launch. A number of you have asked for more information, so here you go:
The Title:
30 Ideas. The Ideas of Successful Job Search.
The Cover:
So, what’s it about? Well, it is a summary of my (nearly) 1st year blogging about successful job search.
I’ve had an absolute blast writing the blog and meeting many of you in person or over the phone. There’s also been a lot of fun e-mail exchanges!
For more on what it’s about and a bit more on my reasons for starting the blog (if that is new info for you), see below where I have printed the book’s intro:
Welcome!
On September 1, 2008 I started writing a blog called Tim’s Strategy – Tools for
Intelligent Job Search. The concept came from an analogy I used during my own 2007 job search. Tim’s Strategy was originally based on the circus act of plate spinning. Where a plate spinner works feverishly to spin plates on a very long stick – sometimes 25 plates at a time. The lesson being that efficiency is required in order to keep them all spinning. In short, you only spin the ones that need spinning!
So, for my job hunt, I built a search and networking strategy based on the idea
that some efforts were more efficient than others. In fact, I was wasting valuable time on very inefficient tasks. Once I learned where I could be most efficient, I built a plan to focus my efforts. Once in place, things started to flow and I had three offers within 45 days. Two of which I turned down before accepting the third a few days later.
Having a strategy and being invigorated by the resulting confidence worked wonders for
me. Now, as I meet job seekers every week, I share these ideas freely. Tim’s Strategy is my way to give back to the community that helped me in 2007. And you know what? It feels really good to help others.
I hope you enjoy this e-book. It represents the best of the blog since its inception. Now you might be asking: what’s the value of this e-book when all of the information is already out on the blog? Well, I’ve re-edited some of the posts, organized them into three critical sections and I’ll tell you, it is really difficult to find posts that are two months old. And the older post might be just the one you need . . . right now!
So I’ve organized the e-book around three key areas. After writing for 9 months and completing 150 posts, these are the three big ideas. The three things you have to get right in order to succeed in job search. They are:
- Job Search Strategy
- The Psychology of Successful Job Search
- Smart Networking
Each section includes 10 chapters to help you succeed in each critical area.
These are ideas. Easy to read and easy to implement. And you can start tomorrow.
I am so grateful to share these ideas with you!
Now it’s your turn . . . who can you share them with? Feel free to share the link to this e-book to anyone in transition, out-of-work or unhappy in their current job. It may be just the thing they need!
Good luck out there!
