Job Search – Why Going It Alone Won’t Work, Part 2
In part 1, I talked about how some job searchers limit their success by going it alone (i.e. have precious few resources in play). What else should I be doing? Read about my job search strategy to learn what plates you could be spinning.
Part 2 is about why all the extra resources/micro networks add value to a search. See the differences illustrated below:
GOING IT ALONE
1. Random Action – Your average day will be disjointed
2. Optimistic View – Absent critical opinion, you will think you are doing better than you are . . .
3. Cold Calls – Without 3rd party support and recommendations, will people call you back?
4. Hope – While an important mindset, hope doesn’t pay the mortgage
5. Out of Alignment – Things don’t happen when you turn the wheel
Tim’s STRATEGY
1. Planned Efficiency – Spinning the right plates the right amount of times
2. Critical Perspective – You have people around who can get you back on track
3. 3rd Party Endorsement – Hiring managers and recruiters listen when other people say good things about you
4. Confidence – With a solid strategy comes peace of mind – even during tough times
5. Sense of Control – You are driving this search vs. waiting for a call back from a recruiter
Are you going it alone? Send me a note.
