Hey Brian and thanks. That’s my experience as well. And job seekers should not take it personally if they don’t hear from recruiters. But when they do get a recruiter call, they can feel good that they are a good fit for a job and/or their network is actively sharing their candidacy with the right people.

Coming from experience as a recruiter at various job fairs you have it right. The “here and now” candidates is the primary target of what recruiters are looking for. Exploiting the other sources to include the unemployed, employed, and HR is where you’ll spend most of your time building relationships and networking.
