There Is No Easy Way In Job Search
No matter what you’ve heard, jobs generally don’t find themselves. This isn’t one of those things that just happens to you. If you’ve heard stories of folks who start up a conversation at Starbucks that, 20 minutes later, ends in a job offer, well, don’t count on that happening to you.
The church pictured above lies in Old Town (San Diego, California) and struck me as a symbol that could support the sharing of another job search idea. You may have read Shouldn’t You Be Networking? here that was inspired by an image captured on that same walk through town.
I originally hesitated in using this image. You know, church and state issues. But, in the end, it is an interesting symbol of wrong-headed optimism. Have a positive outlook, yes, and expect good things to happen. But please don’t call that your strategy . . .
No, jobs don’t find themselves. People find them. And they do it with three critical things. Incredibly hard work, a great network and a strong set of personal marketing materials.
