Hi Tim,

Billie Sucher led me here via you. I think everyone ought to have a job search theme song. I've listed some of my favorites, and others have added theirs, here: http://j.mp/hhcse1.

Hi Tim -
As usual, I've both enjoyed and found functional wisdom in this particular post. As a musician, this is a vehicle I turn to habitually, with either guitar or banjo. Like Steve Martin said, and it's true 'it's really hard to be depressed when you're playing a banjo'. As an adjunct, I also run a small monthly coffeehouse event at our church. In addition to providing an outlet for some amazing musical talent, this venue also brings together scores of like-minded people and provides an excellent networking environment in and of itself.
Keep up the great work Tim -
Thanks!
Tom

I loved the article, Brent. I find myself turning to music as a way to relieve my stress as well. In fact, I recently recommended the same to my sister. I've never been a TV fan.
When I have a ton to accomplish, I turn to Vivaldi's 4 Seasons.
When I am stress out, I listen to "Little Rock" or the Mama Mia soundtrack.
When I am a bit down, my 13 Going On 30 soundtrack cures me ever time.

Oh, I could go on and on with this subject. Music is really soemthing that helps me get through the low times and celebrate the high points. I would like to add a few things for energy for sure.
DMB new album....great energy. The band had lost someone very close (LeRoi Moore), and the energy that came out of this new volume of their music paints a picture of what is really important in life. Also, you can't go wrong with U2 in the mix. As far as meaningful, Lauri mentions Ryan Adams and the Cardinals. These guys have alot of soul and meaning in their music. Check out their latest album (Cardinology). Specifically the song "Born into the light".
One last thing. There is something to be said for silence as well. Try it once in awhile when you need to spend time placing focus on a specific part of your life. I have recently tried this, and it is very effective when searching for perspective.

Hi Lauri - Wow - I love your suggestions. I actually write all the posts here with my iPod on and at a strong volume. Helps me get in the mood and find a pace based on the content that night or morning.
Don't tell anyone, but I actually was listening to Katy Perry the other night. My daughter introduced me to "Hot N Cold" and it helped me get re-jazzed as I started to get sleepy. Thanks for adding your playlist!

I couldn't agree more. As a fellow music lover, i reject the constant barrage of TV, and instead turn to music to calm and/or invigorate me.
Feeling scattered? Classical pieces from Vivaldi and Bach help to sooth.
Feeling thoughtful? Ryan Adams, Death Cab for Cutie, Norah Jones pave the way.
Need energy? Green Day, Coldplay, Pink, Bowie... to name a few.
